Aldo PGHMS - Synthesis of propylene glycol stearate under microwave irradiation

Abstract:
Under microwave irradiation, propylene glycol esters of fatty acids were synthesized by the reaction of different fatty acids with propylene glycol. The effects of different catalysts, Catalyst dosage, microwave power, Irradiation time and molar ratio of alcohol to acid on the reaction were discussed. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows: n (fatty acid):n (propylene glycol) = 1:2.5, Catalyst (p-toluenesulfonic acid, PTSA) = 0.8%, microwave power 600w, reaction time 10 min. The reaction rate under this condition is 24 times higher than that under conventional heating conditions.Key words:

Aldo PGHMS - Determination of propylene glycol stearate in compound emulsifier by HPLC-ELSD

Abstract:
A method for the determination of propylene glycol stearate by high performance liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detection was established. The mixed emulsifier sample was dissolved with isopropanol and filtered with 0.22 μm microfiltration membrane. The C_(18) reversed-phase column was used as the separation column, the mobile phase was acetonitrile and isopropanol, the flow rate was 0.5mL/min, and the drift tube temperature: 50 ℃, carrier gas pressure: 25 psi. The results showed that there was a good linear relationship between the common logarithm of the peak area and the concentration of propylene glycol stearate (R ~ 2=0.9974), and the recoveries were in the range of 95.06% ~ 102.73%, RSD <5%, the propylene glycol stearate component in the compound emulsifier sample can be completely separated from other components. This method does not require derivatization of the sample, and it is simple and rapid to quantify the content of propylene glycol stearate in the compound emulsifier.Key words:
